REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was located approximately 60 nmi SSE of the mouth of the Mississippi River in the Gulf of Mexico and appeared to emanate NNW from a point source located near an oil facility. The anomaly measured approximately 4.5 nmi in length and up to 0.2 nmi in width, and had a distinct dark appearance against its background with well-defined edges. Shimmery-white and silver coloring within the anomaly indicated the presence of possible thicker oil. Winds at the time of the image were from the S at 10-15 kts. The anomaly was located immediately adjacent to the reported location of NRC report #1304672 and was believed to be associated.

UNCERTAINTIES: The nature of the point source could not be determined, although the circumstances of the NRC report, a sheen caused by an issue with a subsea ROV, would comport with this anomaly.
