REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly appeared to emanate southwestward from the site of Wreck 1487, a known repeat leak source. The anomaly measured approximately 2.4 nmi in length and up to 0.14 nmi in width, and had a white appearance distinct from the widespread cloud cover near and over the anomaly. Winds at the time of the image were from the SW at 5-7 kts.

UNCERTAINTIES: The anomaly was visible through thin cloud cover, and thicker clouds in the immediate vicinity of the anomaly may have obscured portions of it. Thus, the analyzed extent of the anomaly is approximate. In addition, the cloud cover prevented identification of possible thicker oil. Still, the repeat leak nature of the suspected source allows for high confidence that this was oil.
