REPORT DATE: 09-04-2021 REPORT TIME: 0545 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: WEST DELTA 31 IMAGE DATE: 09-03-2021 IMAGE TIME: 1616 UTC DATA SOURCE: PLANETSCOPE MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 3 meter LOCATION: 29°07'06" N/89°39'03" W AREA: 1.16 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly appeared to emanate westward to southwestward from an oil facility, and measured approximately 6.6 nmi in length and up to 0.15 nmi in width. The anomaly had a silvery appearance with strong contrast against its background and surroundings. Winds at the time of the image were light and variable. The anomaly was located very near to a previous report associated with NRC #1315498. UNCERTAINTIES: The association with a previous report, combined with distinct appearance from natural phenomena crossed by the anomaly, allowed for minimal uncertainty.
