REPORT DATE: 01-23-2022 REPORT TIME: 0330 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: N/A IMAGE DATE: 01-23-2022 IMAGE TIME: 0003 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: ScanSAR Narrow VV RESOLUTION: 50 meter LOCATION: 29°02'31" N/90°11'31" W AREA: 3.38 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly extended about 2.2 NM long by around 0.75 NM wide at its widest point and had good contrast with its background. Additionally, faint feathering was consistent with winds out of the N at 5-10 KT. Finally, a suspected point source was near the anomaly. Considering the above, we have MED-HIGH confidence in this assessment. UNCERTAINTIES: Feathering was faint and the anomaly, though close and well-oriented, was not connected to the point source. Also, there is a chance the anomaly could be associated with a natural feature.
