The origin of the anomaly was unknown, but in close proximity to several pipelines. It measured 2.5 nmi from N to S and was approximately 0.4 nmi wide. The anomaly exhibited slight feathering structure on the W edge, which is consistent with winds from the W or NW at 5-10kts. The feature did not appear to be in a location with false positives or other natural features. Despite decent sun illumination, the anomaly did not show possible relatively thick oil. The anomaly tested negative for chlorophyll UNCERTAINTIES: The anomaly could be a biogenic or surfactant other than oil Maps and shapefiles can be accessed at: www.ospo.noaa.gov/Products/ocean/marinepollution/ If you would like to share any feedback about this report or have questions, please contact the operational analyst at (301) 683-1403 or send to oceanmap@noaa.gov.
