REPORT DATE: 05-08-2022 REPORT TIME: 0035 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MAIN PASS 65 IMAGE DATE: 05-07-2022 IMAGE TIME: 1625 UTC DATA SOURCE: PLANETSCOPE MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 3 meter LOCATION: 29°19'49" N/89°05'09" W AREA: 0.76 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The possible oil was located approximately 3.5 nm offshore in the Main Pass area of Louisiana, and measured 4.9 nm long and .1 nm at its widest point. The possible oil appeared to slightly widen with distance and had well defined edges, which indicated a bilge dump although no vessel source was captured in the image. A bright shimmer in the area of possible oil was also observed which supported the high confidence designation. Winds were from the SE at 6 kts. UNCERTAINTIES: The possible source was not captured in the image.
