REPORT DATE: 05-08-2022 REPORT TIME: 0215 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 05-07-2022 IMAGE TIME: 1628 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2B MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 0.08 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The possible oil appeared to emanate from the repeat leak source destroyed Taylor platform. The possible oil was approximately .36 nm long and .12 nm across its widest point. It stood out from other natural phenomena and false positives in the area as a bright silvery sheen. Winds at the time were 6 kts from the SE. UNCERTAINTIES: Natural features which resulted in many false positives in the area made it difficult to determine the full extent of the possible oil. The estimated extent in this report was based on the more visible sheen.
