REPORT DATE: 05-10-2022 REPORT TIME: 1015 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 127 IMAGE DATE: 05-09-2022 IMAGE TIME: 1618 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2A MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 28°53'12" N/88°02'34" W AREA: 9.06 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. An anomaly extended 13.2 nm and was up to 0.4 nm wide and was centered in Mississippi Canyon Block 127. A point source could not be determined. The anomaly lacked thick oil. Winds were 5 to 10 knots from the east-southeast. UNCERTAINTIES: The anomaly tested negative for vegetation as seen in this false color image. The absence of thick oil and a definitive point source reduced confidence. While a point source could not be determined there was a concentration of vessels and boreholes on the western side of the anomaly.
