REPORT DATE: 05-13-2022 REPORT TIME: 0545 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 7004 IMAGE DATE: 05-12-2022 IMAGE TIME: 2234 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5X20 meter LOCATION: 40°06'02" N/69°55'03" W AREA: 0.67 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The oil slick extended approximately 2.51 nmi to the northwest from the site of Wreck 1487, a known repeat oil leak source, and was up to 0.14 nmi in width. It appeared dark and had moderate contrast to its surroundings. Winds at the time of image were from the ESE at 10-15 knots, aligning well with the orientation of the slick. Confidence was determined to be high given the association with a repeat leak source. UNCERTAINTIES: The exact boundary of the slick might not be accurate since the contrast is moderate.
