REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The slick extended about 10 NM long by around 0.75 NM wide at its widest point, had very good contrast with its background and may have exhibited feathering consistent with wind-blown oil on the water surface. The linear and widening nature of the slick could also have been associated with a bilge dump, and a possible vessel was noted in the image. Aside from this, there were several boreholes in the vicinity of the slick but no oil facilities or other point source possibilities could be determined. Winds were out of the S at around 5 KT at the time of the image. Considering the above factors, we have MED-HIGH confidence in this assessment.

UNCERTAINTIES: A lack of a definite point source lowers the confidence in the assessment.
