REPORT DATE: 06-01-2022 REPORT TIME: 0425 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: SHIP SHOAL 291 IMAGE DATE: 05-31-2022 IMAGE TIME: 1619 UTC DATA SOURCE: PLANETSCOPE MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 3 meter LOCATION: 28°15'17" N/91°05'47" W AREA: 1.72 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The slick extended about 2.0 NM long by around 0.55 NM wide at its widest point, had good contrast with its background, had feathering on its trailing edge and had a silvery sheen consistent with thicker oil. Additionally, the slick appeared to emanate from a point source. Winds were out of the SE at 5 KT at the time of the image. Considering the above factors, we have HIGH confidence in this assessment. UNCERTAINTIES: None.
