REPORT DATE: 06-02-2022 REPORT TIME: 0545 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: SHIP SHOAL 291 IMAGE DATE: 06-01-2022 IMAGE TIME: 1635 UTC DATA SOURCE: PLANETSCOPE MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 3 meter LOCATION: 28°16'45" N/91°05'29" W AREA: 8.01 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The slick extended about 4.9 NM in length by around 1.75 NM wide at its widest point, had silvery sheen consistent with thicker oil and had feathering on its trailing edge that aligned well with winds out of the E at 10 KT at the time of the image. Additionally, the slick was connected to a point source and was the subject of a previous MPSR (NRC #1337483). Considering the above factors, we have HIGH confidence in this assessment. UNCERTAINTIES: Some of the slick may have been obscured by cloud cover.
