REPORT DATE: 06-11-2022 REPORT TIME: 0800 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: WEST CAMERON 550 IMAGE DATE: 06-11-2022 IMAGE TIME: 0018 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5X20 meter LOCATION: 28°17'31" N/93°17'52" W AREA: 8.03 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. An oil slick extended continuously for 10.6 nm to the southeast of a known, broken pipeline. The slick was up to 0.2 nm wide. A separate area of oil measured an additional 1.5 nm in length and was believed to be associated with the pipeline break. Winds at the time were from the southwest at 10 to 15 kts, which resulted in some feathering of the oil. UNCERTAINTIES: None. This anomaly was the subject of a previous report, NRC #1338192.
