REPORT DATE: 06-14-2022 REPORT TIME: 0445 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: WEST CAMERON 550 IMAGE DATE: 06-13-2022 IMAGE TIME: 1600 UTC DATA SOURCE: PLANETSCOPE MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 3 meter LOCATION: 28°17'03" N/93°17'55" W AREA: 0.34 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The slick extended about 1.25 NM long by around 0.15 NM wide at its widest point, had silvery sheen consistent with thicker oil and was thought to originate from a recently determined repeat leak source subject of numerous other MPSR and NRC reports, although the point source could not be determined in this scene. There was very faint, barely noticable lighter sheen in the scene that had diffuse edges, therefore its true extent could not be determined. Winds were out of the SSE at 10 KT at the time of the image. Considering the above factors, we have HIGH confidence in this assessment. UNCERTAINTIES: Although the slick was thought to be associated with a repeat point source, the source could not be determined because of cloud cover or other factors, such as the termination of the scene. Additionally, the slick was very diffuse on its southern edge, rendering its true extent indistinguishible from its surroundings.
