REPORT DATE: 06-19-2022 REPORT TIME: 0635 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: N/A IMAGE DATE: 06-18-2022 IMAGE TIME: 1632 UTC DATA SOURCE: LANDSAT8 MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 30 meter LOCATION: 29°27'37" N/89°24'57" W AREA: 8.04 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The possible oil was located in south Breton Sound, Louisiana and appeared as a shimmery sheen with bright silver areas indicating thicker oil. The sheen measured 6 nm long and 1.4 nm across, and appeared to emanate from two oil facilities simultaneously. Winds at the time were around 6 kts from the NW, consistent with the pattern of feathering and SE trajectory. UNCERTAINTIES: There were multiple facilities in the area which may have been additional sources of the possible oil. The extent the oil was clipped to the available imagery but may have spread outside the image frame to the SE.
