REPORT DATE: 06-21-2022 REPORT TIME: 2140 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: VIOSCA KNOLL 825 IMAGE DATE: 06-20-2022 IMAGE TIME: 1620 UTC DATA SOURCE: LANDSAT8 MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 30 meter LOCATION: 29°09'39" N/88°02'19" W AREA: 3.02 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The slick had a dark contrast to the surrounding environment and was approximately 2.78nm in total length and 0.58nm at the widest point. The slick appeared to emanate from an oil facility in the Viosca Knoll area of the Gulf of Mexico. Winds near the time of the image were out of the SE at 8kts. UNCERTAINTIES: There were numerous boreholes and it cannot be ruled out that this is natural phenomena so this limits our confidence to Medium-High.
