REPORT DATE: 07-09-2022 REPORT TIME: 2200 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: SHIP SHOAL 253 IMAGE DATE: 07-08-2022 IMAGE TIME: 1547 UTC DATA SOURCE: PLANETSCOPE MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 3 meter LOCATION: 28°22'18" N/91°04'52" W AREA: 2.33 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: ***THIS IMAGERY IS OVER 24 HOURS OLD*** Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The oil slick was likely related to the repeat leak source, Mon Forte facility, which was located 1.5nm due south. The area was approximately 10.4nm in length and 0.3nm in width. There were pockets of relatively thicker oil throughout the area that appeared white/shimmery. There were areas towards the northern edge that may have been mixed with some biogenic material. The full extent of the oil slick could not be determined due to cloud cover and boundaries of the imagery. Although, due to the likelihood that this was connected to a repeat leak source, the confidence rating remains High. Winds were W at approximately 10kts at the time of the imagery. UNCERTAINTIES: The full extent of the oil slick could not be determined. The point source was likely the Mon Forte facility that was located due south of the imagery.
