REPORT DATE: 07-14-2022 REPORT TIME: 2025 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: SOUTH MARSH 230 IMAGE DATE: 07-14-2022 IMAGE TIME: 1206 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: ScanSAR Narrow VV RESOLUTION: 25 meter LOCATION: 29°22'32" N/92°04'02" W AREA: 1.30 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The slick had a dark appearance to the surrounding environment, sharp distinct edges, and was located in the Tiger Shoal area of the Gulf of Mexico. The slick was approximately 2.05nm in length, approximately 0.35nm at the widest point, and winds were out of the SW at 9kts near the time of the image. UNCERTAINTIES: There were two oil platforms in the vicinity of the slick so we could not attribute the slick to a single platform. This combined with a few other factors, limit our confidence to medium for this report.
