Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. A linear anomaly was observed 42.6 nautical miles Southeast of New Orleans, Louisiana. Spanning a length of 0.48 nautical miles and a rough width of 0.02 nautical miles, the potential slick was seen in the vicinity of an active oil facility. The potential slick had strong contrast with the surrounding water and appeared to be emanating from the nearby facility. Winds at the time were coming from a Southwestern direction at around 10kts. The Confidence for this report is Medium-High.

UNCERTAINITIES: A mitigating factor that prevented this report from being High confidence is the slick’s proximity to the shore. While it was possible that the slick may have been biogenic in nature, due to the immediate proximity of a known active oil facility, this report was deemed necessary.
