REPORT DATE: 09-01-2022 REPORT TIME: 0345 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: PULLEY RIDGE 949 IMAGE DATE: 08-31-2022 IMAGE TIME: 1558 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2A MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 25°01'22" N/82°45'22" W AREA: 0.68 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The Possible oil extended approximately 1.15 nmi to the northwest from the site of the sunken Munger T. Ball shipwreck, a known repeat oil leak source, and was up to 0.31 nmi in width. It appeared dark in color and stood out well against the ocean background and was removed from natural phenomena. Measured winds at the time of image were 5-10 kts and from the southeast, aligning well with the orientation of the slick. Confidence was determined to be High given the association with a repeat leak source and visible chromatic characteristics. UNCERTAINTIES: The slick was not directly attached to the point of source and a possible working platform was seen on the site. Also, the slick extended under cloud cover, potentially obscuring the full extent of the slick.
