REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery.  The possible oil was 4.7 nm long and .4 nm at its widest. It was located in the Ship Shoal area approximately 18 nm off the Louisiana coast. The segmented anomaly was oriented in an east-west direction and was relatively straight compared to natural signatures. The anomaly also showed a sharp edge with feathering towards the north, suggestive of a bilge dump. Winds were N 10 kts, consistent with the direction of feathering. 

UNCERTAINTIES: The likely point source could not be determined from the image, a vessel could not be distinguished from nearby facilities. There were also numerous biogenic signatures and likely false positives in the image, which reduced the confidence of this report to medium.
