REPORT DATE: 09-17-2022 REPORT TIME: 0055 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 7004 IMAGE DATE: 09-16-2022 IMAGE TIME: 1535 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2B MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 40°06'02" N/69°55'03" W AREA: 0.44 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The slick was linear in shape, contained sharp well-defined edges, and emanated from the known repeat leak source shipwreck (Wreck 1487). There were brighter returns within the slick extents, which are indications of thicker oil. The slick was approximately 4.09nm in length, and 0.069nm wide. Winds near the time of the image were 8kts out of the NW. UNCERTAINTIES: Portions of the slick extents were hard to see because of image enhancements made it blend in with the ocean background.
