REPORT DATE: 10-02-2022 REPORT TIME: 0900 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: TRINITY BAY 13-16B IMAGE DATE: 10-02-2022 IMAGE TIME: 0026 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5X20 meter LOCATION: 29°42'39" N/94°44'22" W AREA: 25.70 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The possible oil was located in Trinity Bay in Texas, and appeared to emanate initially west-northwestward from an oil facility before stretching to the southwest for most of its length. The possible oil measured 6.75 nmi in length and up to 2.0 nmi in width, and had a distinct appearance from its surroundings, dark against its background and the only such area within the bay. Winds at the time of the image were from the SSE at 6 kts. The possible oil and suspected source were co-located with an MPSR from September 30, 2022, about 31.5 hours previous to this image, which is represented by NRC report #1348738. UNCERTAINTIES: Given the recent MPSR, and the distinct appearance of the possible oil in the image, there were no uncertainties.
