REPORT DATE: 10-04-2022 REPORT TIME: 0230 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 10-03-2022 IMAGE TIME: 2354 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: ScanSAR Narrow VV RESOLUTION: 25 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 0.28 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/Products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The small anomaly had a good contrast with its surroundings and seemed to be emanated from the destroyed MC20 platform. The anomaly was 2nm long in total and located in the south of the point source. The wind at the time was from NNE at 11 kt. UNCERTAINTIES: Given the close proximity of the anomaly to the repeat leak source MC20, there were no uncertainties.
