REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil and measured approximately 6.6 nm in length and 0.5 nm wide at its widest distance. Multiple oil facilities as well as the Mon Forte Ship Shoal 291 site, a known repeat source, were in proximity to the anomaly that was located approximately 59 nm off the coast of Louisiana. The dark linear anomaly had a strong contrast against the ocean background with mostly well-defined edges. Winds near the time of the image were out of the SE at 9 knots, which aligned with the trajectory of the linear anomaly. NRC #1354405 reported a sheen / crude oil leak suspected from an oil facility in the vicinity on 12/7/2022. 

UNCERTAINTIES: The exact source could not be confirmed since multiple oil facilities were in proximity to the anomaly.
