REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The possible oil was located in the Green Canyon lease area and appeared to have emanated northwestward from an oil facility. The possible oil measured approximately 1.7 nmi in length and up to 0.75 nmi in width oriented SE-NW, centered about 3.2 nmi northwest of the suspected source. It had a dark appearance with sharp edges, and had a distinct appearance compared to natural seeps located in other areas of the image. SAR-derived winds were from the SE at around 5 kts. The suspected source was co-located with NRC report #1355964, which was a report of a release of crude oil and process water mixture about 10 hours before the image time.

UNCERTAINTIES: The possible oil was not clearly attached to the suspected source. However, the downwind location of the slick in relation to the suspected source, combined with the earlier NRC report, made it the most likely source location.
