REPORT DATE: 03-21-2023 REPORT TIME: 0145 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: Main Pass MP0067 IMAGE DATE: 03-20-2023 IMAGE TIME: 2354 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: ScanSAR Narrow VV RESOLUTION: 50 meter LOCATION: 29°14'54" N/89°05'13" W AREA: 1.46 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The possible oil appeared to emanate from an active producing oil facility offshore in Main Pass MP0067 area of Louisiana. It measured approximately 4.97 nmi in length and up to 0.73 nmi in width. The slick appeared dark and had high contrast against the background. Winds at the time of image were from the NE at 5-10 knots, aligning well with the orientation of the slick. Confidence was determined to be high given the association with a suspected point source and high contrast to the background.
