REPORT DATE: 04-05-2023 REPORT TIME: 0930 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: N/A IMAGE DATE: 04-04-2023 IMAGE TIME: 1618 UTC DATA SOURCE: PLANETSCOPE MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 3 meter LOCATION: 29°03'55" N/89°27'33" W AREA: 15.87 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The possible oil was segmented and meandered across an area that spanned approximately 15.5nm by 7.7nm. The possible oil appeared to originate near a canal on the west side of SW pass, which was near the location of Hotline #10591. Although, whether or not it was associated is unclear. The possible oil appeared dark in contrast to the surrounding scene and contained well defined edges. There were also pockets of a brighter/shimmery hue, which may have represented relatively thicker oil. Although the slick appeared to emanate from near the shore, a specific point source could not be determined. Winds were generally from the S at approximately 15kts. UNCERTAINTIES: A specific point source could not be determined. Some clouds in the area obscured the imagery, so the full extent of the possible oil could not be determined.
