REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil.  The oil slick was just to the east of Southwest pass, centered roughly 1.2 nautical miles offshore.  The slick measured approximately 2.9 miles long and 0.5 miles wide.  Winds were from the south at five knots.

UNCERTAINTIES: The slick tested negative for vegetation and had strong contrast with its surroundings.  A point source could not be determined.  The full extent of the oil was unknown due to cloud shadows.
