REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil.  The oil slick was located approximately 63 nmi southeast of New Orleans.  It measured roughly 1.5 nmi long by 0.3 nmi wide.  It had well defined edges and contrasted strongly against the ocean background.  There were many oil producing wells in the vicinity but it was not possible to pinpoint any of them as being the source of the oil slick.  Winds near the time of the image were coming from the southeast at 7 knots.

UNCERTAINTIES:  The oil slick was located at the edge of the image and so it was not possible to determine the full extent of the oil as well as the center of the oil slick's precise location.
