REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil.  The anomaly was located approximately 90 nmi southwest of Houma.  It was 1.6 nmi long and up to 0.5 nmi wide at its widest point.  The oil slick had well defined edges and had good contrast against the ocean background.  The slick was likely associated with NRC report #1377785.  Winds near the time of the image were at less than 5 knots.

UNCERTAINTIES:  There were false positives such as cloud shadows in the vicinity.  However, the anomaly had well defined edges and was associated with an NRC report and so was likely to be oil rather than a false positive.
