REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil.  The oil slick was curvilinear in shape, had well defined edges, contrasted strongly against the ocean background, and appeared to emanate from the known repeat leak source Wreck 1487.  The slick was approximately 7.5 nmi long and 0.4 nmi wide at its widest point.  Winds near the time of the image were at 10 knots coming from the south.

UNCERTAINTIES:  There were a lot of false positives in the vicinity.  However, given that the anomaly appeared to come from Wreck 1487, which shows oil emanating from it most of the time, and the fact that the beginning of the slick was close to Wreck 1487, it's highly likely to have been oil and not a false positive.  It's possible the oil slick is not precisely delineated because of the presence of false positives.
