REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil.  The oil slick was linear in shape, had well defined edges, contrasted strongly against the ocean background, and appeared to emanate from a known oil facility in the South Pass area off Southeastern Louisiana.  The anomaly was likely to be associated with NRC reports #1379808 and #1379690.  The oil slick was approximately 3.7 nmi long and up to 0.05 nmi wide.  Thicker oil was visible along the entire length of the slick.  Winds near the time of the image were coming from the southeast at about 5 knots.

UNCERTAINTIES: Clouds covered the oil slick for small parts of its length and so the oil slick might not be delineated correctly in those places.  Also there were clouds at the tail end of the oil slick and so the oil slick may have extended for a little longer underneath those clouds.
