REPORT DATE: 01-07-2026 REPORT TIME: 1246 UTC REGION: INTERNATIONAL WATERS SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: N/A IMAGE DATE: 01-06-2026 IMAGE TIME: 2316 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: ScanSAR Narrow VV RESOLUTION: 50 meter LOCATION: 26°11'09" N/79°18'19" W AREA: 3.14 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was east of Fort Lauderdale, approximately 2.5 NM outside the US EEZ in the Straits of Florida. The anomaly is suspected to be bilge from a vessel traveling east towards the Northwest Providence Channel. The anomaly measured 4.3 NM long, .4 NM wide at the west end and .25 NM wide at the east end, closest to the suspected source vessel, which was captured approximately 10 NM ahead of the possible bilge dump in the image. The possible bilge pollution was roughly linear with sharp edges, high contrast against the surrounding environment, and blunt cutoffs at both ends. Winds were light, reported as 2 kts from S. UNCERTAINTIES: A faint wake signature was visible linking the suspected source vessel to the anomaly, but the vessel was not directly connected to the anomaly itself.
