REPORT DATE: 01-09-2026 REPORT TIME: 0200 UTC REGION: GULF OF AMERICA SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: SHIP SHOAL 43 IMAGE DATE: 01-08-2026 IMAGE TIME: 2358 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: ScanSAR Narrow VV RESOLUTION: 50 meter LOCATION: 29°01'27" N/90°47'28" W AREA: 1.11 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The oil slick measured approximately 2.75nm in length and up to 0.35nm at its widest point. The area appeared darker than the surrounding scene and exhibited a strong contrast with well defined edges. There were multiple oil facilities in the area and a single point source could not be identified. Due to these characteristics, our confidence level was Medium-High. Winds at the time of the satellite imagery were out of the SE at 15kts. UNCERTAINTIES: A point source could not be determined.
