REPORT DATE: 04-28-2026 REPORT TIME: 0153 UTC REGION: GULF OF AMERICA SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MAIN PASS 44 IMAGE DATE: 04-27-2026 IMAGE TIME: 1626 UTC DATA SOURCE: LANDSAT9 MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 30 meter LOCATION: 29°23'03" N/89°06'40" W AREA: 0.95 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. Multiple fragmented slicks were observed in the Main Pass 44 area. The fragments appeared mostly dark-toned, with a shimmery silver center of some portions that indicated possible thicker oil. Additionally, some feathering was observed with the southernmost fragment. They measured approximately 4.2 nm in length collectively, and 0.15 nm at the widest point. Winds near the time of the image were out of the SE at 11 kts that aligned with the feathering direction observed with the anomaly. UNCERTAINTIES: Multiple oil facilities were in the vicinity of the fragmented slicks, and therefore, an individual suspected source could not be determined.
