REPORT DATE: 04-29-2026 REPORT TIME: 1239 UTC REGION: GULF OF AMERICA SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MAIN PASS 92 IMAGE DATE: 04-29-2026 IMAGE TIME: 0001 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5X20 meter LOCATION: 29°37'46" N/88°51'24" W AREA: 14.19 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. It was seen approximately 9.5 NM south of Smack Channel, Louisiana on the eastern side of the Chandeleur Islands. The anomaly consisted of three fragments that were thin and elongated from north/south. The fragments were roughly 15.57 NM in total length and were 0.73 NM at their widest. The possible oil had sharp edges, was distinct from natural seeps, and stood out against surrounding water. Winds at the time of observation were between 10-15 kts from the SSE, which align well with the slicks orientation. UNCERTAINTIES: Unable to identify a source due to multiple oil facilities in the vicinity.
