REPORT DATE: 07-06-2026 REPORT TIME: 2145 UTC REGION: GULF OF AMERICA SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: DRY TORTUGAS 494 IMAGE DATE: 07-06-2026 IMAGE TIME: 1558 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2B MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 24°26'30" N/83°27'34" W AREA: 1.03 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was believed to have been associated with NOAA Response Link Hotline #11180. It was located within the Dry Tortugas lease area and was observed extending southward from the suspected source. It measured approximately 3.76 NM in length and reached 0.21 NM at its widest point. A shimmery, silvery patch was visible closest to the suspected source, indicating the presence of thicker oil. At the time the image was taken, winds were coming from the northwest at roughly 3–5 kts. UNCERTAINTIES: The site had been reported multiple times, with the most recent NOAA/NESDIS NRC reports being #1466285 (06/26) and #1466030 (06/23). Despite the repeated observations, the exact source was still unknown at the time of this report. Additionally, the anomaly's full extent could not be determined due to false positives, particularly in the southern portion of the image.
