REPORT DATE: 09-30-2026 REPORT TIME: 0311 UTC REGION: GULF OF AMERICA SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: N/A IMAGE DATE: 09-29-2026 IMAGE TIME: 1727 UTC DATA SOURCE: PLANETSCOPE MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 3 meter LOCATION: 29°48'10" N/91°50'22" W AREA: 0.49 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REPORT MAP/GIS FILES: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/products/ocean/marinepollution/ REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. Two slicks were located near multiple oil facilities in the Weeks Bay area of Louisiana. The two fragmented anomalies were located approximately 0.6 nm apart, and included sharp edges with a strong contrast against the background. Both anomalies were distinct from natural phenomena and included areas near the center that were indicative of possible thicker oil. The areas measured 1.9 nm in length collectively, and 0.2 nm at the widest point. Winds near the time of the image were out of the SE at 12 kts. UNCERTAINTIES: While it is not certain if both anomalies originated from the same source, they are suspected to be associated based on their close proximity and similar linear trajectory. In addition, multiple oil facilities were located near the easternmost slick and therefore, a single suspected source was not identified.
