NOAA-18, All Instruments, Switch of Blind Orbit GAC Processing, 7 August 2007 - Issued: 3 August 2007; 1915 UTC

Topic:
Blind Orbit (BO) GAC data source switch

Date/Time(UTC) Message Issued:
3 August 2007, 1915 UTC

Satellite(s) Involved:
NOAA-18

Instrument(s) Involved:
All (BO data only)

Product(s) Involved/Affected:
All Products (BO data only)

Date/Time(UTC) of Initial Implementation:
7 August 2007, Time TBD UTC

Details/Specifics of Change:
On August 7, the blind orbit GAC data playbacks from the NOAA-18 spacecraft will be switched so that the data will come through the Swalbard (SV) site instead of the Wallops Island (WI) and Gilmore Creek (GC) Command and Data Acquisition stations. Beginning on the 7th, the NOAA-18 blind orbits will no longer be available from the DOMSAT. The SV passes will appear in the on-line schedules. Any level 1B data users should receive the N18 from SV automatically. These users should see an immediate improvement in the timeliness of the data with no more N18 blind orbits reported. In the event of problems retrieving the data through the SV station, the WI and GC station will capture the data. The only difference in the naming convention is at the end of the name where "SV" will appear instead of the "WI" or "GC". The only internal data difference is the "Data Source" indicator.
