Subject:NOAA-16, AMSU-B, Channel 18 Gross Filter Limit Update, 3 December 2008 - Issued:3 December 2008 2210 UTC

Topic:
Gross filter limit update

Date/Time(UTC) Message Issued:
3 December 2008, 2210 UTC

Satellite(s) Involved:
NOAA-16

Instrument(s) Involved:
AMSU-B

Product(s) Involved/Affected:
All Products using AMSU-B channels 18/no impact

Date/Time(UTC) of Initial Implementation:
3 December 2008, Time 1941 UTC

Details/Specifics of Change:
During our normal monitoring, NOAA detected that the NOAA-16 AMSU-B channel 18 Warm target gross filter lower limit was nearing the set tolerance. The instrument scientist authorized a change to update the lower limit to avoid loss of data. On December 3 around 1941 UTC, the channel 18 lower limit was changed from 12000 to 10000. The first orbits scheduled to be processed after the change were:
