NOAA-14, All Instruments, Nitrogen Pressure Relief, 25 July 2006 - Issued: 25 July 2006; 1715 UTC

Topic:
Nitrogen pressure relief

Date/Time(UTC) Message Issued:
25 July 2006, 1715 UTC

Satellite(s) Involved:
NOAA-14

Instrument(s) Involved:
All instruments

Product(s) Involved/Affected:
All Products/no impact expected

Date/Time(UTC) of Initial Implementation:
25 July 2006, Time 1940 UTC

Details/Specifics of Change:
On July 25, SOCC is planning to vent GN2 (nitrogen) gas to reduce pressure. This procedure should be transparent to users however a notification is being issued since the possibility of attitude perturbations exists. This maneuver is being performed, since it is undesirable to go into the Pitch over maneuver test (week of 7 August, no later than 10 August) with the possibility of an autonomous venting event occurring during the maneuver. The venting maneuver will occur in two parts.

On orbit 59652 around 1940 UTC on 25 July, anticipatory torque will be disabled prior to venting to reduce attitude perturbations.
On orbit 59655 around 0028 UTC on 26 July, GN2 low pressure gas will be vented.
