Information from the SOCC morning report: On Friday, July 26, the NOAA-17
AMSU-A1 and A2 will be configured for the final Space View Positions #1 and
#2 respectively. The instrument will remain in this configuration until the
final operational Space View Position is recommended by the users.
Additionally, the automatic Channel 3A/3B switching feature on the Advanced
Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) was enabled on July 24. The
automatic switching of Channel 3 occurs at the day/night terminator with
Channel 3A, the 1.6 micron channel, selected during the daylight portion of
the orbit and Channel 3B, the 3.7 micron channel, selected during nighttime
portion of the orbit.
