Topic:
Solar Array Move May Cause Data Shifts

Date/Time(UTC) Message Issued:
29 July 2003, 1800 UTC

Satellite(s) Involved:
NOAA-12

Instrument(s) Involved:
All instruments

Product(s) Involved/Affected:
All Products/increase charge currents and possible thermal profile
changes

Date/Time(UTC) of Initial Implementation:
30 July 2003, Time 1320 UTC

Details/Specifics of Change:
On July 30, SOCC will change the solar array offset from -45 to -60
degrees. According to SOCC, "This change will reduce excess power
production by the solar array, and therefore reduce operational stress on
the power dissipation shunts. Some change in thermal profile due to
differences of array shading of various spacecraft components is possible".
Users may notice data changes. This change will occur on orbit number
63415.
