REPORT DATE: 05-20-2022 REPORT TIME: 0335 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MAIN PASS 64 IMAGE DATE: 05-19-2022 IMAGE TIME: 2350 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: ScanSAR Narrow VV RESOLUTION: 25 meter LOCATION: 29°19'41" N/89°02'46" W AREA: 3.18 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The possible oil was located in the Main Pass area of Louisiana, just east of Breton Sound. The possible oil was a thin and well defined dark line that looked out of place and stood apart from natural phenomena. The possible oil measured 11.5 nm long and was oriented in a north-south position. This would be consistent with S winds at 14 kts at the time of the image. UNCERTAINTIES: Considering the wind conditions, the point source was likely located at the southern end of the anomaly, but a specific facility could not be determined as there were too many in close proximity in this area.
