REPORT DATE: 01-09-2023 REPORT TIME: 1445 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: SOUTH PASS 61 IMAGE DATE: 01-09-2023 IMAGE TIME: 1145 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: ScanSAR Narrow VV RESOLUTION: 50 meter LOCATION: 29°00'31" N/88°58'21" W AREA: 1.12 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible, unconfirmed oil was observed in satellite imagery. The possible oil was comprised of two faint areas, approximately 2.7nm x 0.1nm and 0.7nm x 0.3nm. The area of possible oil was located near multiple oil facilities that were located to the NE. Winds at the time of the imagery were 10-15kts from the NNE. The area only had some contrast to the ocean background, but due to the proximity to oil facilites and a couple well-defined edges, the confidence is Medium-High. UNCERTAINTIES: A point source could not be determined due to the number of facilities nearby.
