DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE:
Significant cloud cover over the eastern half of the U.S. significantly
limited both fire and smoke detection in satellite imagery.
Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, Texas...
Multiple fires seen at the southern portion of the Anahuac National
Wildlife Refuge located east of Galveston Bay, Texas. The fires were
emitting a mixture of medium-heavy smoke plumes that were moving southeast
into the Gulf of Mexico.
South-central Florida...
Light density smoke was visible moving northwest from fires located
south of Lake Okeechobee.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
