DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z February 26, 2020

SMOKE:
Northern California...
A small fire complex was observed Northwest of Cooper City,
California. Heavy and moderate density smoke was observed in the vicinity
of the fire and light density smoke was observed further from the
fire. The smoke from this fire is progressing Northeastward this morning.

Cuba...
Several fires were observed over portions of Central and Southeastern
Cuba. Heavy and moderate density smoke was observed in the vicinity of
the fire activity and light density smoke was observed further from the
fires. The smoke from the fire activity is progressing Northwestward
this morning.

Southern Florida...
Agricultural burning was observed south of Lake Okeechobee in Southern
Florida. Light density smoke was observed from the fire activity
progressing Northeastward this morning.

Southern Mexico/Northern Guatemala...
GOES16 Visible imagery observed regions of light to moderate density
smoke across portions of Southern Mexico over portions of the Southwest
Yucatan Peninsula and Northern Guatemala as well. Seasonal fire activity
was observed in this region with  light density smoke observed from
these fires.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.  AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED.  USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:

Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.

A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.

Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
