DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z MAY 19, 2020

SMOKE:
North Central US/South Central Canada...
The latest GOES16 Visible satellite imagery observed agricultural burning
in portions of the North Central US including Eastern North Dakota,
far Northeastern South Dakota, and Northwestern Minnesota. Light density
smoke was observed from the fire activity progressing Northwestward. Fire
activity was observed in parts of South Central Canada including Southern
Saskatchewan and Southern Manitoba Provinces with light density smoke
observed from the fire activity progressing Northward. A small region
of light density smoke was also observed over part of Western Ontario
Province in the latest GOES16 Visible satellite imagery.

Southwestern Mexico/Eastern Pacific/Southern Gulf of Mexico...
Widespread fire activity was observed over most of coastal Southwestern
Mexico. A large region of moderate to thick density smoke was observed
over the region. Light to moderate density smoke was also observed
out over the Eastern Pacific from smoke transport from the widespread
fire activity. Light density smoke was also observed over part of the
Southern Gulf of Mexico in the Bay of Campeche progressing Westward
towards coastal Eastern Mexico where light density smoke was observed
as well in the latest GOES16 Visible satellite imagery.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.  AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED.  USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
