DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2350Z August 10, 2020
SMOKE:
California...
The Red Salmon Complex in Humboldt County remains active with largely
stagnant moderate-to-heavy density smoke seen near the source. Moderate to
light density smoke from that same fire covers much of northern California
extending to the west over the Pacific ocean prior to turning south,
and to the north over southwestern Oregon.
Colorado/Nebraska…
The Pine Gulch Fire continues to burn in southwestern Garfield County
in western Colorado releasing moderate-to-thick density smoke towards
the northeast-east. In addition to that, the Grizzly Creek Fire located
less than 60 miles in eastern Garfield County was also actively burning
with moderate-to-heavy smoke dispersing towards the northeast-east. The
smoke from those two fires could be seen extending northeastward over
central Nebraska.
Washington....
The Greenhouse Fire lost intensity during the afternoon hours although
light-to-moderate density smoke could still be seen dispersing towards
the northeast-east for approximately 100 miles.
DUST:
Baja California...
Blowing dust was observed just west of the Colorado River delta moving
north towards Mexicali.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
